Before starting this blog, I had already started my Bag Meal preparation. But what I thought would take me a week, several weeks ago, took me WAY longer because I had no accountability to my plan. When I finally finished putting my first 15 meals together, I decided I needed some way to keep myself on track. Thus, the blog. But I feel it's important for me to document each meal. So, here we have the Indian Curry Haystacks...
(Printable Labels available for you under the Bag Meal Tags For Bags menu. I print the labels (4 to a page) then cut them apart and paste them to card stock. Then I laminate them, cut them apart, hole punch in the corner, and tie them to the filled Bags.)
I took a chance on this recipe. I haven't actually tasted it, but it sounds DE-Lish. So, I went for it anyway. I was punched in the pocketbook with this one, because I had to BUY almost every ingredient. And 15 of them to boot! This is one of the reasons it took a while to get them together. But once I had everything in order, the assembly of the Bags was so much fun!
(Everything that goes into the Bag)
At the kitchen table, Genny, my 4 year old, sat on my right and Anna, my almost 3 year old, sat on my left. Genny held the baggies open while I filled them. Then I sealed them up and handed them off to Anna, who ran them over to the counter. When the baggies were all done we moved on to filling the Bags. We all pitched in and moved every baggie and can of food back to the table. There the girls took turns between helping me fill the Bags and moving the completed Bags to the counter. It went so fast, and I got to teach my little girls about emergencies, food storage, and following the prophet. We even sang the primary song "Follow the Prophet" while we worked. The kids enjoyed helping mommy and felt really good about being a part of building up our supply. Very awesome experience!
(All 15 Bags, labeled and ready to go!)
(14 Bags for the bin that will hold 28, and 1 Bag for my short term storage shelves.)
Go Team Taylor!
