Chicken and Peas Over Pasta Bag Meals DONE!

For our family night last week, Bart and I took the opportunity to talk to our kids about saving for a rainy day. We told them the story about Joseph in Egypt, and how he interpreted the Pharaoh's dream then helped him to save the food from the years of plenty for when they'd need it during the years of famine. We then explained that this is why we have extra food on our shelves and why Mommy fills all these bags with more! Things might seem plentiful now, but we never know if or when hard times might hit. So it's always a good idea to be prepared.
For the activity we went into our storage room and pulled everything off the shelves that was needed for the Chicken and Peas Over Pasta meal. Our 4 and 3 year old LOVED helping to count while I took note of where we were short on a few items. The kids also helped me, a few days later, to shop and then put everything into the bags. The family working together with me on last week's meal was really great!

I did a couple of things differently with this bag meal than I have in the past. One: I added a bottle of water to each bag. You never know whether you'll need it or not, and it counts toward my water storage as well. Two: I added a can of fruit to each bag. Trying to be sure ALL of my nutritional bases are covered. These are two items that will from now on be included in every bag meal I store. And to save on baggies, I combined the flour for the sauce with the seasonings.

Everything that you need (except for the butter and frozen peas) to make
